Kenton County Parks & Recreation still has a few openings left for its Monday Men’s Church and Friday Co-Ed Adult League beginning play at Middleton-Mills Park on Monday, April 23 or Friday, April 27. Wanna get in? If you would like to field a new team in our league, please contact us NOW! Or, if you are a player looking for a team, we may be able to help you. Call 859-525-PLAY (7529) and let us know! First come, first served! Our Monday Men’s Church season will begin Monday, April 23 and our Friday Co-Ed season will begin on Friday, April 27.
Kenton County Parks & Recreation offers recreational softball in three leagues for adults:
- Monday Men’s Church A
- Monday Men’s Church B
- Friday Co-Ed
Ideally, we will have leagues with 11 teams each with as many as 20 players on a roster during regular season.
Fees for the season plus a single-elimination tournament will be $250.00 per team. One dozen U.S.S.S.A.-approved softballs will be included in your league fee. Additional softballs will be available at $50 per dozen.
Entry fees will be accepted prior to the beginning of the season.
Umpire fees are $15 per team, per game and are NOT included in your league fee. Each team will pay the Umpire directly before each game.
Ideally, we will have leagues with 11 teams each, which would mean there would be two games on fields each night during the regular-season and one bye, and a true round-robin season. Random pairings will rotate the schedule so that teams will play approximately the same number of games on each field and approximately half early (6:15 pm) and half late (7:15 pm).
The season is scheduled to begin the week of April 23. The season is scheduled to end no later than August 24.
WHEN & WHERE
Games will be played at Lincoln Ridge, Pioneer, and Middleton-Mills parks and will begin promptly at 6:15 pm and 7:15 pm. There will be an allowance made for a 15-minute Grace Period before the start of the 6:15 pm game ONLY.
For EARLY games: If the Grace Period is used and the 6:15 pm game gets underway at 6:30 pm, no new inning will start after 7:20 pm. The Umpire may also institute the Flip-Flop Format so that the second game will start at or before 7:30 pm.
There will be no games scheduled for the holiday weekend of Memorial Day (May 25 and 28) or Independence Day (July 2 and 6).
Single-elimination tournaments for both Men’s leagues and for the Co-Ed league will be played on Mondays and Fridays, respectively, at the end of the season for as many nights as it takes. KCP&R will provide softballs during tournaments and you will continue to pay the umpire for each game as you advance in the tournament.
We play under U.S.S.S.A. rules with a few of our own mixed in. Please become familiar with your rules book and the NEW KCP&R league rules! Keep both with you during games. Before the season begins, both the KCP&R rules and the U.S.S.S.A. rules will be available to be viewed or downloaded from the www.quickscores.com/kenton site.
In fairness to the Umpire and to the other team, be ready to play when your game is scheduled to begin. This is especially important at the beginning of the season and at the end of the season when daylight can be an issue.
Everything to do with the season will again be handled from this website: www.quickscores.com/Kenton
Please bookmark the site as teams will be visiting it often. Take a look at last year’s schedule and results. This year’s actual schedule will not appear until about a week or so before the season is scheduled to begin and by then, Rhonda Ritzi will have been in touch several times.
Schedule changes due to rainouts, if there are any, will also be handled on this site. Remember to give the web address to your players and fans; they can all use it.
Weather-Related Postponements: Up to two games postponed due to the weather or weather-related field conditions will be rescheduled at the end of the regular season.
Rainout Line telephone number is (859) 544-1700. You may now also check the status of a field on our website under Parks & Recreation on www.KentonCounty.org or download the Rainout Line app on your smartphone and search for “Kenton County Parks & Recreation”.
Teams will be playing for a league champion team trophy, t-shirts, and tournament seeding. For the tournament the winning team will receive a team trophy and t-shirts. Not to mention bragging rights for an entire year!
CONGRATULATIONS are in order!
Last year’s 2017 Regular Season Champs and Tournament Champs were as follows:
- Monday Men’s Church A: Community Family won the league championship AND Grace Episcopal won the tournament.
- Monday Men’s Church B: Immanuel Baptist won the league championship AND the tournament.
- Friday Co-Ed: the Avengers won the league championship and McGlovin won the tournament.
Let's make 2018 an enjoyable season of RECREATIONAL softball in Kenton County! Our rules are fairly simple. Play by the rules! Respect the Umpire! If rule changes need to be made, we will make them at the meeting. If you have questions before the meeting, please call Rhonda Ritzi at (859) 525-PLAY (7529) or e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
