This recommendation is concerned with public services such as water and internet connectivity. Currently there is no designated committee for this task, but SKCCG is still involved with county leadership on these issues.
The need for internet service was expressed at SKCCG public meetings and surveys. Commissioner Sewell was a strong leader in laying ground work for connectivity even before the COVID-19 pandemic. In the summer of 2021, altafiber (formerly Cincinnati Bell) contracted with Kenton County to provide fiberoptic access to the premises of all residents by the end of August 2023. Judge Knochelmann and Kenton commissioners were strongly supportive of this initiative.
There are still South Kenton homes that rely on well or cisterns for water. This continues to be an issue that relies on funding, population numbers and desire of enough residents wanting to sign up for water service.
