Kenton County Clerk’s Office
RENEWING CAR TAGS:
- Option 1: Use the online renewal. You will need a credit card to process this payment.
- Option 2: If you are paying by check or cash, please mail in your renewal to: Kenton County Clerk at P.O. Box 1109, Covington, KY 41011
- Mail-in renewals should include the prior year registration receipt, proof of insurance, and payment. Renewal instructions are included online.

TRANSFER OF A CAR:
Individual vehicle transfers will be suspended until further notice. Individuals that have purchased a vehicle from out of state will need to retain their documents until we can reopen. Individuals selling a Kentucky-titled vehicle to another person will also have to wait until we reopen to complete the transaction.

For new placards or renewal of placards, you must process these by mail.

If you need a copy or certified copy of a marriage license, please send your request to the address listed above. If you need a certified copy then please include a $5.00 check or money order to process this request. You can also request a certified copy over the phone. DELINQUENT TAXES:
Customers who need to pay any tax bill that is owed prior to 2019 can call (859) 392-1650 and pay them over the phone with use of a credit card.

Kenton County Sheriff’s Office
PROPERTY OR TANGIBLE TAX BILLS
To pay 2019 property or tangible tax bills, please use the online website and pay via credit card. Checks may also be mailed for payment to Kenton County Sheriff, P.O Box 188070, Erlanger, KY 41018. Postmarks of April 15, 2020 will be honored for the due amount shown for the Penalty 2 amount.
Collections for 2019 Kenton County tax bills at every Heritage Bank branch location effective Tuesday, March 17th have been reopened. A COPY OF THE TAX BILL WILL NEED TO BE PRESENTED. Heritage branches will accept Penalty 2 due amount thru the end of business day April 15, 2020.
CCDW renewals, if possible, should be handled online.

- In conjunction with the orders issued by the Kentucky Supreme Court, all Pre-Trial, Bench Trial, and Jury Trial dockets scheduled in Kenton County District Court between March 16, 2020 and April 10, 2020 have been CANCELLED and will be rescheduled.
- All regular GUARDIANSHIP cases have been cancelled, and will be rescheduled at a later date.
- We will continue to assist with petitions for emergency guardianships, Casey’s Law, and mental health involuntary hospitalizations. PLEASE CALL (859) 491-0600 TO DISCUSS IF YOUR SITUATION MEETS THIS CRITERIA.
- Child support is currently suspending pre-trial conferences, in-house appointments, and paternity testing. Please contact the office at (859) 491-4114. Child support dockets between March 16, 2020 and April 10, 2020 are currently CANCELLED and will be re-scheduled at a later date. The Kentucky Child Support website can be accessed here. Online access to your account can be set up.
