The Kenton County Fiscal Court took the next step in its development of the new Kenton County park, located in Independence, at its meeting Tuesday, Sept. 24.
The Fiscal Court approved soliciting bids for an owner’s representative for the project. The owner’s representative will advise the County during the planning, design and construction phases.
In late-August, the Fiscal Court contracted with design firm Human Nature to update the park’s master plan to refine the project’s scope and update its estimated costs.
“The new Kenton County park represents a commitment to the well-being and livability of our community,” Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann said. “We’ve been given the opportunity to create a space where families can come together, children can play safely and everyone can enjoy the beauty of Kenton County and, now, we’re working to ensure that is done well and fiscally responsibly.”
At 225 acres, the new Kenton County park is the largest of the County’s seven parks. The park neighbors Lincoln Ridge Park in Independence and opened for passive recreation in 2020.
