Volunteering at Kenton County Animal Services is a meaningful way to give back to your community while making a real difference in the lives of animals in need. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to volunteer. NOTE: Volunteers under the age of 18 will be limited to non-dog handling opportunities, including building and distributing enrichment activities to kenneled dogs, housekeeping activities, cat enrichment and creating adoption bags.
If you’re ready to get involved, we’re here to help you every step of the way. From applying and training, to signing up for shifts and logging hours, everything is done through Better Impact, our volunteer management system.

Our foster program gives pets a temporary, loving place to stay outside the shelter while they wait for their forever homes. Time in a foster home can be life changing for an animal. It helps reduce their stress and gives our team valuable insight into the pet’s behavior and preferences, making it easier to find the right adoptive family. Fostering also helps create space at the shelter so we can continue helping more animals in need.
Whether you can foster for a few days or a few months, your support makes an impact. If you’re ready to open your home and heart to an animal in need, fill out our foster application below to get started.
