There are three ways to apply for an occupational business license.
- Apply Online: Kenton County Business Services offers an easy, secure, and convenient way to register your business online through the Business Services Portal. When you access the portal, select “Business License” under “Register for Business License.”
- Apply in Person: Visit the Kenton County Government Center. When you arrive, ask for the occupational business license application.

*For individuals and business entities operating in Covington, you have the option to apply for an occupational business license directly with the city of Covington or through the Kenton County Fiscal Court’s Business Services department. When it is time to file the Annual Occupational License Fee & Business License Renewal Return (Form ACC1), Employee’s Quarterly Withholdings (Form QCC1), and Annual Reconciliation of Payroll License Fees Withheld (Form KC-AR), individuals and business entities operating in Covington must file and pay taxes directly with the city of Covington and with Kenton County Business Services.
